melody of life - what's your song?

The restaurant had a tv up by the bar playing a concert from the previous night. Francis Bonnefoy had been lovely as he sang to the crowd hearing them scream for more only made him purr his lyrics to them more sweetly.

"Ce soir, nos deux corps se mêlent

His full lips in a smile as his eyes reflected the emotion he held as he sang. The waitresses were talking about who they song could be for. A girl he loved back in Paris or some one he met on tour that inspired him. They giggled as they spoke the blond's honeyed voice seemed to filled the room.

"Plongez en moi, elle m'a ouvert le fond

In truth Francis was just very good at playing with people and their emotions. His songs may have lyrics of pure love and longing but his smiles held poison. He was known you only sleep with someone once and that was it. He adored having men and women beg for his touch. He could sing of love in it's purest form and yet he himself knew not the meaning of the word.

The blond woke up in his hotel room and rolled over to find some random woman in his bed. She was pretty with light blond hair and pale skin. Her punk clothing lay scattered on the floor as his manager came in. The older man was quick to place some roses on the nightstand along with a heart felt note signed by Francis. The french man got out of bed, dressed and walked out leaving the woman with flowery promises that he felt horrible for leaving but their night of passion would forever be in his heart. His cold cold heart.

It was a packed stadium as usual as Soren Mikkelsen got ready backstage. It was the same old routine. Cloths on, check. Sober enough so that the words didn't slur together, check. Song lyrics in his head, check. His heart still broken into a million pieces, definitely check. He took one last chug from his beer and handed if off as he went on stage.

"I was blinded by the darkness
Wishing for a ray of light

He grit his teeth, the song leaving a bad taste in his mouth every time he sang it. It was bad enough that he had to keep remembering him, waking up alone in an empty house, in a cold bed. Bad enough that he tried drowning the pain in alcohol and groupies. He had to keep singing these songs that he had wrote about him til he got his muse back to write new ones.

He smiled and put on a good show. Making the crowd swoon as he purred the lyrics with such emotion and passion. Whispers always passed him and in every interview they asked who this phantom person he described in his songs. He would smirk and say it was his secret. Yes it was his secret. His pain that no one saw.

He was now at home, same routine. Beer, check. TV on watching the concert, check. Miserable beyond belief, check. Plate of Wienerbrød steaming next to him on the couch, check. He took another chug of his beer and frowned. His music was up beat and happy, he was always upbeat and happy, but his grey-blue eyes showed that he was dying inside.

The next thing on the TV was a song by an up and coming artist name Lukas. The song was called 'One Reason' and it had a heavy beat. The blond singer rocked his body to the music as cold dead eyes stared at the camera. When he opened his mouth the lyrics swirled and purred.

"Slit the throat of reason and reality

Main attraction of this twisted master plan

His fingers moved over the guitar strings as if his life depended on it while his voice became soft with the next line. Soft blue eyes slid shut as he sang to the camera.

"When I can feel my skin crawl"

His long pale fingers slowly moved up his neck in gentle caresses up to his cheek. One pinkie slowly moving over his lips as if longing for someone.

"When I'm about to crack"

He moved his fingers into his hair gripping it as if trying to hold himself together from feeling pain.

"The hunger for revenge gives me strength to stand"

His eyes shot open and he started to sang with ferocity once more.

He held out his hand as if asking for help as well as cursing the world.

He touched his heart as the words danced from his lips. He sang with every fiber of his being. Giving a voice to those that could not scream out their hurt. As if he knew that there were those that needed this to be said. People who were hurt yet hiding it from the cruel world.

He glared darkly out at the world cursing those that dare try to make him bleed. He would burn the world to get revenge.

"Stagnated by the passivity

When the song ended the reporter starting talking about the artist and how that was his first song to be aired. Lukas' first album wouldn't be out for a few more weeks.

Soren dropped his beer when he heard the song. Chills moved up and down his body as he listened, his precious beer forgotten as it oozed over his plush rug.

This Lukas... His music.. It was what had been burning in his heart for months. It was what he was longing to scream out. This small blonde had just put words to his feelings. He moved to his desk and turned the Tv up, listening as he started to sketch out lyrics.

"Tomorrow at seven am on the VH1 morning news Lukas will be appearing live for a first time interview," the reporter said before moving on to the next song in the count down.

He smiled and moved to grabbed his phone calling up to get a seat to his interview.

The next morning Lukas sat beside his guitarist and drummer as they were fitted with mics for the interview. The blond was dressed in a dark blue ripped shirt and ripped jeans. His hair was a little messy and he kept moving his hand to tuck his bangs behind his ear.

Soren arrived with his manager and moved towards the small blonde. He was wearing a pair of black jeans, boots and a bright red band tshirt that had his band name Wrecking Roses on it.

Lukas brushed some hair from his eyes and stared at him. His face was blank and his eyes held nothing as he stared at him.

"Hey." He said with a small smile as he ran a hand through his hair. "You must be Lukas."

"Yeah," he said. His voice was soft and dull. He spoke in a monotone which was so different from what was in the song that had played on TV. That strong emotional voice that called to the soul didn't match with this person in front of Soren.

Soren's mouth dropped and he looked at him. "Wow.. are you serious? Do you actually sing all of that?" He asked shocked.

His face gave nothing away as his dull blue eyes blinked at him. "That's a little rude coming from someone who doesn't believe half the shit they sing."

His face fell a bit. "I don't understand."

"You're Soren of 'Wrecking Roses' right? All your music is shit about being happy and in love but even you don't believe half of what you're singing. You are a voice to those that don't have the courage to speak but how can you sing about joy when inside you don't feel it." He tilted his head as he stared the taller man down.

"How can you even stand to call yourself a artist when all your music is nothing but lies?"

He blinked at him before gaping a bit. "Sorry for bothering you." He said softly before turning and excusing himself to his manager. He moved to the single bathroom off the side and locked himself in it.

He was right. He was a fraud. He was a complete fraud. He felt hot tears roll down his face as he sat on the sink, trying to calm himself down. The last thing he needed was the press getting wind of this.

Lukas sat calmly as the interview started. The woman smiled at the camera as she introduce the three on stage. The blond blew out his cheeks as he watched her and gave her a polite greeting.

Soren came out of the bathroom just as the questioning started. His mask was back on and he was smiling with no trace that he had just broke down in the bathroom.

"So Lukas," the woman said smiling at him. "What band is your favorite? I mean considering your style and all what type of music helps you to write?"

He thought about it before speaking in his monotone. "Wrecking Roses actually was my favorite when I started really getting into music. I copied Soren Mikkelsen's vocal style during a talent show two years ago when I was in high school."

His eyes glared at him while he had a sweet smile on his face. Now he knew he was fucking with him. He had just fucking insulted his music... Called it shit.

"Oh so you're a fan of Wrecking Roses?" the woman asked excited.

"No. I hate their new stuff. I was a fan when it was fresh and real but now it just seems forced."

He glared at him and bite his cheek. He had never really wanted to strangle someone he had just met so much before in his life.

The woman seemed stunned but carried on asking questions like when the album was coming out what Lukas hoped for and then it came to the end. "Well since we are almost out of time Lukas would you please do us the honor of singing something that is going to be on the album?"

He shrugged and said sure as he moved to the makeshift stage and taking the mic.

Soren folded his arms and watched him. Fucker. Stupid nosy fucker going to ruin everything.

Lukas counted out in his head as the guitarist started to play. His whole body seemed to melt away as he lost himself in the music. It was like watching a doll come to life when he opened his mouth.

He opened his eyes as his voice filled the room.

His voice poured out calling to the souls of those that listened.

His eyes closed as he put himself into every word. He was singing from his core and pleading with the angel to not be caught by the devils. Who ever this was about should feel lucky.

He sang the last line three times before the music ended and he relaxed again. Slowly his eyes closed as his body became a bit tense. The woman running the interview closed out and when the camera cut she ran over congratulating him and asking when he could come back.
